In a recent report by UN Women, Gazan women describe their daily struggles, revealing the heartbreaking reality of life amidst war. From displacement to healthcare crises, their voices shed light on a humanitarian emergency that demands urgent global attention.
Life in Displacement: A Daily Battle for Dignity
With relentless airstrikes and ground operations, millions have been displaced from their homes. Overcrowded shelters and makeshift camps have become the only refuge for many, where maintaining privacy and dignity is nearly impossible. Women face severe challenges, from the lack of basic necessities to inadequate access to hygiene products. A Collapsing Healthcare System and Maternal Crisis
Gaza’s healthcare system is on the brink of collapse, with hospitals overwhelmed by casualties and severe shortages of medical supplies. Pregnant women are among the most vulnerable, with reports of cesarean sections being performed without anesthesia due to a lack of essential medicines. The absence of postnatal care further endangers mothers and newborns, turning childbirth into a life-threatening ordeal.

The destruction of infrastructure and economic blockade have left many women without livelihoods. Those who manage to flee to neighboring countries often find themselves trapped in legal limbo, unable to work or provide for their families.
